Burton Snowboard Size Chart
Burton sizes boards by rider weight, published per model. Here is how their system works, typical ranges, and where to find the official chart.
How Burton sizes its boards
Burton prints a recommended weight range on every board length — they consider weight, not height, the primary factor. If you sit between two lengths, choose by confidence: lighter riders and park riders go shorter; heavier riders and riders who chase speed go longer.
Width: Burton marks wider versions of their boards with a “W” (for example 157W). If you wear US men’s 11+ boots, look for the W version or a model with a larger waist width.
Our calculator result usually lands inside Burton’s published ranges. Use it for a starting point, then confirm against the weight range printed on the exact model you are buying.

Step On sizing
Burton Step On bindings come in S/M/L/XL for men and S/M/L for women, matched to boot size — check Burton’s official binding chart if you ride Step On.
Women’s Burton boards
Women’s Burton boards (for example the Yeasayer) use the same weight-range system with narrower waist widths. Enter your boot size in our calculator and subtract nothing — our width conversion already handles US women’s sizes.

Reading the Burton snowboard size chart
Burton does not chart by height — every board length carries a recommended rider weight range, printed on the product page and the board's spec sheet. The logic is sound: weight flexes the board, so weight should decide the length. Find a length whose range contains your weight, then use style to pick within it — shorter for park and quick turns, longer for carving, speed and hard-pack.
That is also why our calculator and Burton's ranges usually agree so closely: both lead with weight. Cross-check the calculator's result against the weight band for the exact model you want, and treat an overlap as a green light.
The snowboard size chart Burton riders actually use
Burton publishes men's, women's and kids' ranges separately, per model, and marks wider versions with a "W" (for example a 157W). Our universal height and weight table above works as the quick translator: match your calculator result to a length, confirm the weight range on the specific Burton model, and your shortlist is done in under a minute.
Women's Burton snowboard size chart
Burton's women's line — boards like the Yeasayer, Feather and Story Board — runs the same weight-range system on narrower waist widths and softer flex at every length. Shorter and mid-range riders in the women's line typically land between 138 and 152 cm, with a women's-specific weight range printed per length.
Enter your boot size in the calculator above and choose US women's: the conversion is automatic (a women's 10 is a men's 8.5) and the width check follows from it. For the full table, open the women's snowboard size chart and bring your calculator result back to Burton's women's ranges.
The Burton snowboard size chart, row by row
Picture the Burton chart as three columns per model family: board length in centimeters, recommended rider weight in pounds and kilograms, and the waist width (widening under the same length when the board is a "W" model). A typical band looks like this: a 145 cm board for riders around 95–150 lb (43–68 kg), a 155 around 120–185 lb (55–84 kg), a 165 from about 155–210 lb (70–95 kg). Exact bands vary by model because flex shapes them — a stiffer Custom carries a slightly higher weight range than a softer board of the same length.
The practical move: use our calculator's result as the anchor, then open Burton's official chart for the exact board and pick the length whose weight band overlaps your calculator range on both ends. When it overlaps, you are inside the board's design window — Burton engineered the flex for exactly your weight there.
Womens Burton snowboard size chart: sizing through their women's line
Burton's women's boards — the Yeasayer, Feather, Story Board and Hideaway among them — keep the same weight-range system on narrower waists and softer flex. A worked example: a 5'5" (165 cm) rider at 130 lb (59 kg) gets about 145 cm (try 142–148) from our calculator. In the womens Burton snowboard size chart that maps to lengths whose women's weight bands cover 59 kg — typically a 144, 146 or 147 depending on the model year and board.
For the width check, enter your boot size in US women's sizing and the conversion (women's minus 1.5) applies automatically. Almost every women's Burton boot fits a regular-width board; if you ride women's 11+, look at "W"-marked or mid-wide options within the women's line before switching to unisex boards. The full women's snowboard size chart and the brand-agnostic calculator above do the height and weight work in seconds.
How Burton's model families change the picture
Model choice bends the chart as much as body choice does. Instigator and Ripcord are the beginner standbys: softer flex, easy edge transitions, forgiving at the shorter end of your range. The Custom line is the all-mountain benchmark — camber the Classic, hybrid-leaning Flying V — sized confidently in the middle or top of your band. The Process plays between park and all-mountain; park-oriented boards like the Name Drop traditionally ride a touch shorter, and the Family Tree splitboards size longer for touring float.
You don't need to memorize any of this. Pick the family by where you ride, run the calculator for length, and match the printed weight range. That three-step habit handles every Burton board, every season, including the ones that haven't shipped yet.
Burton kids and youth boards
Burton sizes its kids' boards with weight ranges too, and youth models stay deliberately short and soft. Hold the chest-to-chin rule from our kids and youth snowboard size chart in front of every decision, and you will land on a board your kid can actually turn on day one.
Using our calculator with Burton's official chart
Three steps, one minute. 1) Run your height, weight, boot size, style and ability through the calculator above — write down the recommended length and the ±3 cm range. 2) On Burton's size chart page for the board you want, find the two lengths between which your recommended length sits, and read each one's rider weight range. 3) Choose the length whose range contains your weight comfortably, not marginally; when both do, take the one matching your style — shorter for park, longer for freeride.
If the calculator and Burton's bands disagree by more than a few centimeters for a conventional board, something is off in an input — usually the weight. Double-check it, and remember kids' boards under 40 kg follow the kids' chart instead.
Does the calculator match Burton's ranges?
For conventional camber and hybrid-camber boards, yes — usually within a couple of centimeters. If you ride Burton's Step On system, remember that its own sizing (S/M/L/XL by boot size) is a binding chart, not a board-length chart, and worth checking separately before you buy.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official Burton size chart?
No — this is an independent, unofficial guide. Burton's official chart lives on their website and is the source of truth for their boards. We explain how their sizing works and link to it.
What size Burton board should a woman get?
Most women land between 138 and 152 cm. Check the women’s Burton section above, enter your boot size in our calculator with US women’s sizing, and confirm against the women’s weight range printed for the exact model.
Does our calculator match their ranges?
Usually closely for conventional boards. Volume-shifted or specialty models can differ — always confirm the weight range printed for the exact model.
What if I am between two lengths?
Choose by weight confidence and style: go shorter for park and maneuverability, longer for powder and speed at high weight.
