Salomon Snowboard Size Chart
Salomon sizes boards by rider weight, published per model. Here is how their system works, typical ranges, and where to find the official chart.
How Salomon sizes its boards
Like most brands, Salomon publishes a recommended rider weight range for every board length on each product page. Weight is the primary guide; height and riding style fine-tune the choice.
Salomon splits its line into families (for example Assassin, Huck Knife, Dancehaul, Rumble Fish). Volume-shifted models like the Dancehaul are meant to be ridden 5–10 cm shorter than a conventional board of the same weight range.
Width: most Salomon models sit between 245–260 mm of waist width. Riders with US men’s 11.5+ boots should pick the larger sizes or models known for extra width.
Approximate Salomon weight ranges by board length
| Board length (cm) | Rider weight | Typical waist width |
|---|---|---|
| 138 – 145 | 80 – 130 lb (36 – 59 kg) | 238 – 245 mm |
| 147 – 153 | 110 – 165 lb (50 – 75 kg) | 246 – 252 mm |
| 155 – 159 | 140 – 200 lb (63 – 91 kg) | 250 – 257 mm |
| 161+ | 170 – 235+ lb (77 – 107+ kg) | 255+ mm |
Approximate ranges observed across Salomon models, last checked Oct 2026. Salomon does not publish one universal chart — confirm the range on the product page of your exact board.
Women’s Salomon boards
Women’s models such as the Lotus and Oh Yeah run narrower waists and softer flexes at the same length. Our calculator’s women’s boot conversion gives you the right width check.
Volume-shifted models
Boards like the Dancehaul or Gypsy are designed to replace longer conventional boards — ride them 5–10 cm shorter than our calculator suggests and still keep the same float.

Reading the Salomon snowboard size chart
Salomon publishes a recommended rider weight range for every length of every board, one model at a time. Weight leads the decision; height and riding style fine-tune it. Between two lengths? Ride the shorter one in the park, the longer one for powder, speed or a heavier build.
There is no single universal Salomon chart — the product page of your exact board is the source of truth. Treat this page and our calculator as the fast first pass, then confirm on the model you are buying.
Volume-shifted boards ride shorter
The most interesting quirk in Salomon's sizing is volume-shifting: models like the Dancehaul and Gypsy carry extra surface area per centimeter of length, and Salomon explicitly designs them to be ridden 5–10 cm shorter than a conventional board of the same weight range.
So if you fall for a volume-shifted shape, subtract 5–10 cm from your calculator result before comparing it with the printed range — the shorter length is the intended ride. Waist width stays generous on those models, which is one reason bigger-footed riders like them.
Women's Salomon boards
Women's models such as the Lotus and Oh Yeah run narrower waists and softer flex, each with its own weight range per length. Our women's snowboard size chart covers the height and weight side, and the boot-size conversion stays automatic in the calculator.
Width and boot size on Salomon boards
Most Salomon boards sit between 245 and 260 mm of waist width. Riders with US men's 11.5 or larger boots should aim for the longer sizes or the models known for extra width — and always verify the printed waist width on the exact board's spec sheet before checkout.
Salomon model families and how they size
Assassin — the all-mountain flagship, plus its wider Assassin Pro — sizes conventionally: run our calculator, then match Salomon's printed weight range, and they will overlap in the middle. Huck Knife and Sleepwalker are true-twin park boards that are happy a touch shorter inside your range. The volume-shifted family is where Salomon breaks from tradition: the Dancehaul (men's) and the Gypsy and Rumble Fish (women's) pack a wide, surf-style surface into 5–10 cm less length than a conventional board of the same weight range.
Women's regular-width models like the Lotus and Oh Yeah follow the standard chart with narrower waists and softer flex. You don't need each model's character memorized: identify the family it belongs to — conventional, park, or volume-shifted — and interpret the same calculator result differently. That's the whole system.
A Salomon snowboard size chart example, worked through
Two riders, straight through the calculator. First: 6'0" (183 cm), 180 lb (82 kg), all-mountain intermediate. Result: about 163 cm, range 160–166. On a conventional Assassin, choose the Salomon length whose weight band covers 82 kg — typically a 162 or 163, depending on the model year. On a volume-shifted Dancehaul, subtract 5–10 cm first and shop in the 153–158 window instead — the shorter length is the designed ride, not a compromise.
Second: 5'7" (170 cm), 140 lb (64 kg), beginner, all-mountain. Result: about 148 cm, range 145–151. On any conventional Salomon in that band — an Assassin or a beginner-friendly model of similar weight range — the low 150s and high 140s are both valid starts; a beginner takes the shorter. These two examples are exactly how to convert a generic result into a Salomon snowboard size chart pick: identify the model family, then apply the offset.
Sizing your first Salomon board
New to snowboarding and set on a Salomon? Run the calculator with your beginner ability selected — that subtracts about 2 cm before the range is even shown — then stay in the lower half of the printed weight range for your model. Softer flex matters more than exact centimeters on a first board: a slightly shorter, softer board turns earlier, catches fewer edges and builds the confidence that makes season two fun instead of terrifying.
One trap to avoid: volume-shifted boards look like tempting beginner deals in bigger widths. Their sizing runs off the standard chart, which makes them a confusing first pick. Size a conventional model for your first season; the playful shapes will still be there when your feet can use them. Our what size snowboard guide covers the beginner decision in depth, and the home page calculator shows the exact range for your numbers.
Questions Salomon riders ask most
- Why do Salomon's sizes look shorter than other brands? Only on volume-shifted shapes — the Dancehaul-family boards carry more width and surface per centimeter. Conventional models match any other brand's chart.
- Should beginners ride volume-shifted boards? They are playful and forgiving at low speed, which some learners love; but the off-number sizing confuses estimates, so a conventional softer board is the safer first pick.
- I'm between two lengths — which do I pick? Go shorter for park and maneuverability, longer for powder, high speed, or a heavier build. The same tiebreaker every brand uses.
When you open Salomon's official chart, one detail matters more than everything above: the weight range is printed per model per length. Our guide and calculator get you within a couple centimeters, but the model page's own numbers always win.
Kids on Salomon boards
Salomon's youth line follows the same weight-range pattern. For kids under about 150 cm, keep the chest-to-chin rule from the kids and youth snowboard size chart in front of every decision — it is the fastest check in the shop.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official Salomon size chart?
No — this is an independent, unofficial guide. Salomon's official chart lives on their website and is the source of truth for their boards. We explain how their sizing works and link to it.
Does our calculator match their ranges?
Usually closely for conventional boards. Volume-shifted or specialty models can differ — always confirm the weight range printed for the exact model.
What if I am between two lengths?
Choose by weight confidence and style: go shorter for park and maneuverability, longer for powder and speed at high weight.
